What is D2 fuel?

 

Diesel is known by many names in the industry. Gas-Oil is the word used in France to refer to this fuel. Diesel fuel is also used in English to refer to this petroleum derivative. One of the most popular names used for diesel is red diesel. This name is given to it because of the red color of this substance. Red color was added to this fuel from the 1960s.

The addition of red color was so that people can quickly find out whether a car runs on diesel or not. White and red diesel are basically the same fuels, but their taxes are very different. The tax on white diesel, like gasoline, has a high rate. On the other hand, red diesel has much lower fuel duties.

In the beginning, before the use of natural gas became popular, gasoil was used to heat houses and heating facilities. With the passage of time and the proliferation of motor vehicles, diesel became a popular fuel for use in many vehicles.

In addition to traditional diesel produced from oil refining, synthetic diesel or Fischer-Tropsch diesel can also be

produced from natural gas, synthetic gas derived from coal, or biogas from biomass.

produced primarily from oil plants such as soy or palm. These alternative diesel fuels can be mixed with traditional diesel fuel or used alone in diesel engines without modification because they produce very little sulfur.

Alternative diesel fuels are

often proposed as a means of reducing dependence on oil and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and only biodiesel can provide benefits to the CO2 cycle. Currently, seven grades of diesel are produced, which are approved by the United States.
