Injection grade polyethylene

Injection grade polyethylene: Injected heavy granule, or injected heavy polyethylene, is a type of polyethylene granule that is included in the heavy polyethylene polymer group. As it is clear from the name of this product, it is used for the injection molding process. Polyethylene s have different models. Some are flexible and others are rigid. Injected heavy polyethylene has high hardness, chemical resistance, non-permeability, and dielectric properties. The higher the density of this product, the stronger, stiffer and heat resistant the plastic becomes. Although this product has less impact resistance than light polyethylene, its resistance to chemicals is good as well as its resistance to environmental breaking stresses; In other words, it can be said that injected heavy polyethylene has good performance in terms of tensile strength, chemical resistance, heat, surface hardness and wear resistance.

Application of injected heavy polyethylene

Injected heavy polyethylene is one of the products that is included in the category of injected granules, and as its name suggests, it is used for injection processes in the production of plastic parts; Therefore

Processes such as extrusion, injection molding and rotational molding are seen in the processes announced in the heavy injection granule datasheet. In general, heavy polyethylene is used in applications such as directional tape, Therefore woven bag, single strand, pipe, blown film, injection molding and blow molding. Woven and monofilament bag, normal or pressurized pipe, optical fiber cable channel, very glossy and paper film, industrial containers above 100 liters, thin layer molding and masterbatch are the final uses that are made of heavy polyethylene injection. This product is one of the most widely used grades of plastic products and is used to produce products such as industrial parts, thick wall parts, kitchen appliances, etc.

As a technical point in production, it should be noted that in the injection molding process, the temperature of the material and the temperature of the mold should be higher, and the injection pressure should be lower.

Application:

Polyethylene is

widely used in the production of all kinds of plastic appliances used in the kitchen and food industry. LDPE is

used in the production of light plastic containers as well as plastic bags. Therefore

HDPE is

used in the production of milk and liquid containers and all kinds of plastic kitchen utensils. MDPE is

usually used in the production of pipes and plumbing fittings. Therefore

Due to its

high degree of flexibility, LLDPE is

used in the preparation of various flexible plastic devices such as pipes with the ability to bend. Therefore

Recently, many researches have been conducted in the production of polyethylene s with long chains and short branches. These polyethylene s are basically HDPE with some side branches. These combined polyethylene s have the strength of HDPE and the flexibility of LDPE.

History of polyethylene

The word polymer was first used by a chemist named Renault in 1835, and the first commercial use of this material was in 1834 for the production of rubber. It was like this that the world’s first synthetic plastic named cellulose literate entered the market in 1862 and 1868. Several years later, nylon (1938), polyethylene (1942), injection-molded heavy granules, polypropylene (1957) and liquid crystal polymers were first produced and popularized in 1985.

Poly Ethylene is one of the simplest industrial polymers in the world. Therefore Its molecule is

a long chain of carbon atoms with two hydrogen atoms attached to each carbon atom. In a general view, PE polymer is a

simple polymer that is

produced from ethylene monomers and free radical chains, and is

widely used in cases such as injected heavy polyethylene, thermoplastic, polyethylene fibers or pipes, and sheets of this kind. has it. Therefore When there are

no branches between the molecules, linear light polyethylene is

formed, which is harder than its branched type. Therefore It should be

noted that these items do not have a great impact on the price of polyethylene materials.

Types of polyethylene

High-density type (HDPE):

High-density polyethylene or so-called heavy polyethylene has an unbranched polymer chain. Therefore Due to the unbranched nature of the chain, the intermolecular force in the chain is high and its tensile strength is much higher than other types of PE. Therefore One of the effective factors in the production of this type is

the reaction conditions and the type of catalyst, which is

usually produced by the polymerization method and with the Ziegler-Natta catalyst. Therefore The price of HDPE type polyethylene materials is not much different from other polyethylene s and injected heavy granules.

Low density type (LDPE):

This type of polyethylene, which is

also known as light PE, is

the opposite of injected heavy polyethylene, the polymer chains are

branched, so they cannot communicate with each other well, and they have less intermolecular force and tensile strength. Therefore And they are

usually used to produce flexible polymer materials, and their features include the possibility of decomposition by microorganisms. Therefore LDPEs are

also produced by polymerization method.

Linear type or light linear type (LLDPE):

This type of PE is

a linear polymer that has a number of short branches and is

usually created from the copolymerization of ethylene with long chain alkenes.

Very light type (VLDPE):

This polyethylene is

basically a linear polymer with a

large amount of short branches that are

produced by

copolymerization of ethylene with short chain alpha olefins.

Type with transverse connections (XLPE):

This type of PE is

usually used to make electrical insulation in electric cables and is

mostly used for medium and low voltage cables.
