Polyethylene grade film with special weight

print

Polyethylene film grade with specific weight: Polyethylene is one of the most widely used polymers in the plastic industry, which is produced from linear monomer polymerization. This polymer is divided into three main groups: heavy, linear and light polyethylene.

What is polyethylene?

Polyethylene is a chemical synthesis of ethylene, Therefore which is produced from crude oil and natural gas. Therefore Some informal names are polythene or poly ethylene, abbreviated as PE. However Polyethylene is one of the types of thermoplastic polymers, in the sense that it turns into a liquid at the melting point and into a solid at the freezing point. However Polyethylene has a crystalline structure with soft crystals and is widely used in plastic manufacturing industries all over the world.

Specifications of polyethylene types

1) Light polyethylene (LDPE)

The side branches in this polymer are randomly connected to each other and create a very irregular shape. In this material, the number of branches is more and longer and the molecular chains are further apart from each other, so the amount of crystal (crystallinity) and density in this category is lower than other grades of this material. Therefore This low density polyethylene LDPE produces a very flexible material with unique properties. In most cases, LDPE polyethylene is used to produce packaging, polymer sheets and various types of polymer films (air film).

2) heavy polyethylene (HPDE)

The structure of this polyethylene has a high strength-to-density ratio due to the nature of the polymer chain. Due to the low number of branches and their small size, the degree of crystallinity is high and as a result, its density is between 0.97-0.94. HDPE polyethylene has many different applications depending on the molecular weight of the polymer chain. Therefore

Among the famous grades of this product, Therefore we can mention injected heavy polyethylene, which has many applications. Usually, lighter weight grades are used for the injection process and for the production of injection products such as kitchen utensils and toys. Heavier molecular weight grades are used to produce polymer films and inflatable containers for product packaging, and super heavy grades are used to produce polyethylene pipes for transporting water and liquids in the city and agriculture.

3) Linear light polyethylene (LDPE)

Linear light polyethylene (LLDPE) and very light linear polyethylene (VLDPE) include a wide range of poly ethylene s from clear and elastomeric to opaque and rigid and dry. These grades are

used when high stiffness and strength are

considered along with low density and high flexibility. Therefore The important application of LLDPE is in the production of plastic films such as inflatable film, casting film, extrusion coating and food packaging.

Very light linear polyethylene (VLDPE) is

also obtained by

increasing the percentage of comonomer, which properties of this polymer include very low density as

well as properties such as transparency, softness and toughness, in addition, it is

used in the production of medical tubes and meat packaging. Placed.

4) UHMWPE polyethylene

A very special polymer that has a very high molecular weight and is

produced by metallocene catalysts. This polymer has excellent abrasion resistance, Therefore high impact and chemical resistance, and low friction coefficient. UHMWPE polyethylene is

used in the production of knees, elbows and other bony joints of the body due to its good mechanical and physical properties, long lifespan and compatibility with the human body.

5) Polyethylene MDPE

MDPE is a medium molecular weight polyethylene and a combination of LDPE and HDPE, Therefore which offers similar properties to these two polymers. Compared to HDPE,  it has higher sliding resistance but lower hardness. The application of this polymer is in the manufacture of pipes and gas fittings and packaging films.

Physical, chemical and mechanical properties of poly ethylene s
The physical, chemical and mechanical properties of polyethylene are largely interdependent.  In the following tables, you can see these properties for different grades of polyethylene.

Chemical properties of poly ethylene s

Nonpolar, saturated, high molecular weight hydrocarbon with chemical properties similar to paraffin
crystalline form due to structural symmetry; Therefore Increasing density and mechanical and chemical stability by increasing crystallinity
High chemical stability
Solubility in aromatic hydrocarbons such as toluene and xylene or chlorinated solvents such as trichloroethane or trichlorobenzene at a temperature higher than ambient temperature
No water absorption
Low permeability of polar gases and steam and high permeability of oxygen and carbon dioxide
becoming brittle when exposed to sunlight; Using carbon black as a UV stabilizer
Slow burning with a blue flame and the smell of paraffin
